I have just finished viewing a TED talk by Barbara Arrowsmith-Young. What this lady has achieved is truly wonderful and is part of why I have a passion for helping people become, well ... better people. It inspires me to learn more and to teach other people more about what is possible. Watch the talk - 13 mins well spent.
I’d like to tell you about a young man I saw over the last several weeks. His reason for seeing me was a common one – lower back pain. Once I had talked with him it became apparent to me there were several lifestyle choices he was making that were contributing to his problem. Like many lifestyle choices, sometimes they don’t seem like choices.
Television’s #1 daytime host, Dr. Phil, for the first time ever, featured not one but two chiropractors on an upcoming Dr. Phil Show on Thursday March 14, 2012. And Dr. Phil didn’t just host a show with a chiropractor, he openly endorsed chiropractic for lifetime wellness care, not back pain which wasn’t even mentioned. Dr. Phil shared that chiropractic has helped him and his wife mentally, physically and spiritually.
I didn’t adjust someone yesterday. John* age 2 had a fever (at home was measured at 38.8 degrees by an ear thermometer), and I am pretty sure a sore ear. He didn’t tell me in words, but when you actually watch someone they will often tell you what is troubling them. Not in words, but clearly in some distress and a tendency to rub and hold his ear. You don’t need to be Einstein. Of course when people get older they can tell you in words, or at least what symptom they are experiencing.
Many people are often surprised when I check to see if they are taking their weight evenly while they are standing up. And often I see a person lay down on the table for an adjustment and look bent like a banana. As I straighten them up they will often comment that they now feel ‘crooked’ despite the fact that they are lying straighter.
